There is something about people who are grown up and wearing crocheted clothes. It just makes them look about 50 years older. I mean like, crocheted jumpers, rather than the nice crocheted cardigans that you sometimes get. Semi crocheted is ok, but a fill on crocheted jumper on an old lady that you can see through... now that's wrong. The new dress code is in force at work. Which means not that much difference really, in the grand scheme of things. Most people have purchased the fetching io polo shirts (in a selection of navy or black, short or long sleeved and a v neck fitted t shirt if you are a girl with very small boobs) and are just wearing them instead of the usual t shirt. Still with the jeans and trainers. Suits me down to the ground. It takes the hassle of trying to decide what to wear every morning away, which can only be a good thing.

No surprise party for my birthday, but plenty of joy, nonetheless. Went out the nite before with some people from work as there was one of the people from the Thai office over to Oran Mhor, very nice in there. Paul very kindly bought a bottle of champagne to toast my birthday, which was duly drunk. Friday at work, saw comic relief "fun" in the shape of some men dressed as women (some people will use any excuse) and a fiendishly hard quiz that we won by fair means (or perhaps foul. Not fowl tho). And lots of cake and flowers and presents. Lee gave me many fabulous gifts and I was generally very pleased that everyone was so kind. What have I been up to? Coughing a lot and feeling like death, mostly. This cough will not go away and I am tiring of it now. It is doing the rounds at work, and I had 2 days off and came back to new building joy. Hopefully the air conditioning in the new place will not circulate the same germs in it. We are off to Tenerife on the last day of May for 2 glorious, sun drenched weeks (touch mdf). I can't wait. What else? Maw has a job interview in Perth soon, so might be moving back north of the border. Our house decorating zest is slowly coming back, well, Lee's is, as he has almost finished the stairs. Dum di dum, that's all now. posted by Claire @ 3/25/2005 02:33:00 pm | 0 comments | ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Tuesday, March 08, 2005Edith To Win!Or Dawn. I am getting quite shamefully hooked on Fame Academy. I have voted and everything. Well, it's for charidee after all. I can't quite bring myself to stay up for the voting part, but the performance part is quite entertaining. Anyway, back to normality after Red Nose Day which is Friday. Which, coincidentally, is also my 26th birthday! For which, I am doing hee haw, as usual. I am sure there will be a big surprise party and I will have to practice my "oh, you shouldn't have!" face. Hmmm, yeah right. New shoes are a god given basic human right which should be exercised at every available opportunity. Here endeth the sermon. posted by Claire @ 3/08/2005 09:57:00 pm | 0 comments | ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Edith To Win!

My proposal is to change to working 3 12 hour shifts in a week and having four days off. That would rawk. I used to work 3 nights a week night shift when I worked for the rozzers. Having 4 days off was fabulous, although I couldn't sleep during the day which was a bummer. I ended up like a zombie. But all that free time... ah, those were the days. Anyway, I was in work on Saturday, and then went and did some shopping and home to tackle cardboard city in the living room again. We managed to get about 4 boxes unpacked and then brought yet more stuff up from the old flat and filled the space we cleared. There can't be that much more stuff to bring, surely.... I stayed home from work yesterday as I was not so well, and found myself ironing to give me something new to do that didn't involve cardboard boxes. Ironing, for god's sake. I must have been ill. Today it is snowing again! Or at least it was this morning. My, mother nature, you are really spoiling us. It's all gone now likes. I got into work and there was a parcel from Singapore awaiting me - it was THE BAG! It is marvellous! Hurrah! My birthday in t minus 10 days. I will be 26! That seems scarily old (altho not as old as Lee, mwuhahahaa). No idea what I am doing for it yet. All the systems are down at work, meaning everyone has run out of things to make them look busy and have thrown caution to the wind are randomly surfing the web and virtually twiddling their thumbs instead. The novelty is beginning to wear off though after 5 hours of it though and the big pile of work waiting to be done is getting bigger and bigger. posted by Claire @ 3/01/2005 06:39:00 pm | 0 comments | ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ |
